Mary Bennison is a co-opted governor and has previously had two children at Kingslea.
She is a trained paediatric nurse, having worked in acute paediatric care in the NHS for 16 years in London before moving to Horsham. She now manages all aspects of her husband’s interiors business.
With a keen interest in child health, development and mental wellbeing, Mary is a keen advocate on a holistic approach to education.
English writing is Mary’s curriculum lead and she sits on the Policy & Curriculum Committee.

Alexis joined Kingslea in September 2015, having previously been a head teacher in two other schools, one in Horsham, the other in south London. Alexis started his teacher career in London almost 20 years ago and is passionate about ensuring every child reaches their full potential, is seen as an individual and enjoys their time at school. He is also committed to using sport, music and computing to engage children. Alexis lives in Horsham, he has two grown up daughters.
Felicity (Fliss) joined Kingslea in September 2023, returning to the classroom after seven years as a Deputy Headteacher and joined the Governing Body as a co-opted Governor in November 2024. Over the past 19 years she has taught in a range of primary schools across West Sussex, gaining a wealth of experience and a deep passion for primary education and leadership.
Fliss believes that working at Kingslea is a privilege and she is proud to support, nurture and inspire our pupils, helping them to be the very best they can be in all areas of their learning and personal development.
Fliss has lived in Horsham for most of her life and attended local schools herself, which makes working within the community especially meaningful. In her spare time her main passions is going to the theatre and attending live music events.

Ross currently has twins at the school and and as a Governor is keen to help support Kingslea provide the very best educational experience for all the children in their care. Over the last decade he has been a primary school teacher and has experience of curriculum design, assessment and subject leadership in both state and independent schools in London and West Sussex. Prior to this Ross worked for over a decade in corporate reorganisation for Big Four films in the UK and overseas.
Naomi has been a Kingslea Governor since 2021. Both her children have attended Kingslea before moving on to Forest, where she is a Parent Governor.
Naomi's professional experience spans education and social research. She started her career at Ipsos and the Institute of Policy Research, and then spent a decade teaching politics, sociology and history at secondary schools and colleges in South London, Surrey and Sussex. Since 2018 she has been a social research consultant, specialising in projects focusing on education, young people and families.

Clare was appointed as the Local Authority Governor at Kingslea in July 2026. Clare started her career in Learning and Development within the corporate sector, becoming a Global Leadership Coach, supporting Board teams of household names to develop their leadership, teams and culture. In 2019, she took time out to retrain and is now a Family Safeguarding Social Worker within West Sussex. Clare is a Trustee of a local homeless charity and is keen to continue to find ways to give back to her local community. Clare lives in Horsham and has a grown up daughter.
Peter is a Co-opted Governor, taking up the role in the Spring of 2026.
One of his daughters is a TA at the school and he has four granddaughters currently attending Kingslea (although two of those will move up to secondary school from September this year).
Peter was in the police service for 18 years and left in 1995 to join the private sector within a National optical and hearing company where he eventually joined the board of that company.
In 2015, he left to commence his own Business/Company. Eventually retiring in 2024.
Peter has been married to Diane for the last 44 years and has two daughters and five granddaughters all of whom keep him very busy. However he still has plenty of time to join our school as a governor, where he feels he can offer his experience within the public and private sector for the benefit of all at Kingslea.
