Values

Values

The Core 4 Values are at the heart of Kingslea. They guide, shape and support our whole school community to have a shared understanding and vision for the school. The Core 4 are an integral part of ensuring the whole school community has a strong moral foundation which can be used in all aspects of school life.

As part of our commitment to pupils, we endeavour to ensure that children leave Kingslea with a strong sense of who they are, feeling confident to tackle the next stage of their school journey. We believe that by having a set of clear values within our school community we enable children to have a better understanding of the world that they are growing up in and have a key opportunity to develop their own personal values alongside the Kingslea Core 4.

These values underpin teaching and learning across all aspects of school life. Through using our Core 4 progression we are able to give children opportunities to develop and succeed in a safe and supported environment, appropriate to their age and stage of learning. Our main aims for the Core 4 are to:

· Enable all children to develop a set of personal values which support and guide them in all aspects of life
· Develop individual behaviour and ensure children have the self-assurance they need to be confident in themselves
· Ensure children take responsibility for themselves and their actions
· Give children the opportunity to think for themselves and develop their own mind to be an individual
· Create a wide-range of opportunities to stimulate discussion and thoughts which give children further ideas about the world around them
· Ensure children are able to work with others effectively and develop clear communication skills to enable them to succeed in the future
· Give children a wide range of problem solving tools to support decision making and solving different types of problems in appropriate ways
· Create an inclusive and positive environment where children are able to feel safe and secure
· Establish an environment where children are respectful, tolerant and inclusive ensuring they treat everyone with kindness and consideration
· Support personal growth and development outside of the school environment
· Stimulate conversation and discussion with parents and families about personal values and the continued personal development of children
· Instil an understanding that to succeed in life children need to persevere and continue to keep trying
