At the end of Year 6, pupils take a series of tests known as National Curriculum Tests, NCT’s or SAT’s. They are one of the ways used by the government to judge the effectiveness of schools.
For many years pupil attainment and progress at Kingslea has been significantly higher than the national average in reading, maths and grammar, punctuation and spelling. We put our high levels of achievement down to our curriculum, our expectations, kindness and our close working relationship with parents. We do not hot-house or narrow the curriculum to just maths and English, but have always given our pupils a wide-ranging engaging and engaging curriculum in every year group.
The table below shows our end of KS2 over the last few years. You can see Kingslea’s results versus national results, both the percentage of children reaching the expected standard (EXS) and the higher standard (GDS).
Obviously, our results are very strong but all schools are much more than a set of numbers.
Overwhelming majority of parents agree with every positive statement in the survey, with 70% or more strongly agreeing for every question. •Over 80% strongly agree that their child feels happy, safe and is doing well at school. •Extremely high levels advocacy - 9/10 would strongly recommend the school to another parent, with all parents recommending the school to others. •Staff, the care of the children, atmosphere & extra-curricular provision seen as particular strengths. •No similar levels of agreement about areas for improvement. A small number of people mentioned parking and a few mentioned homework, some wanting more and some wanting less.
