Kingslea Primary School has been participating in the Eco Schools programme for a number of years. The Eco Schools programme covers nine areas: school grounds, biodiversity, globalcitizenship, energy,water, waste, litter, transport and healthy living. Schools entering the programme gain a Bronze, Silver and, ultimately, a Green Flag award through an assessment process.
We work hard on our outdoor learning environments to create exciting and interesting areas that provide habitats for wildlife and where we can grow our own fruit and vegetables. It's also lots of fun! |
Eco CouncilOur Eco-Committee meets every other week to plan activities and ideas to make the children and staff of Kingslea more aware of environmental activities.
Our main topics for this year are: |

• Biodiversity – make our school a more welcoming place for wildlife.
• Litter – develop a zero-tolerance attitude to litter both within and outside the school. A Litter Picker Team has been set up which goes out daily into the playground. They do a super job to help ensure our playgrounds are kept clean and tidy.
• Energy – adopt a ‘saving energy’ culture

The Wild life PondWe have worked hard to create areas in our school grounds to encourage wildlife and to enable the children to take part in gardening activities.
