In July we held our open afternoon.  We asked parents what they would like for a primary school education.  Below are some of their responses

Kingslea Open Afternoon

•    A balance between literacy and numeracy, and social skills.  Learning to interact with other children, deal with emotions, and manage relationships.
•    I would wish for my child’s education to be encompassing of the world, difference and tolerance as possible - to install a lifelong love for learning, encourage individuality and support her needs.  I don’t want a factory produced child who can’t speak, act or be them self.
•    A dynamic, fun and social education, providing exciting and unusual opportunities.
•    The best you can get. To make sure they try their hardest.  Would like them to be confident and try her best.
•    I would like Kingslea to provide an education to make my child a better person, who is knowledgeable and independent, who can succeed in his academic and social life.
•    I would like my child to have an education that is fun and varied.  I would like him to be confident, kind, considerate and helpful by the time he leaves.
•    I want my child to feel confident, secure and happy.
•    A full education which provides a good basis in the basics of reading, writing and makes but also provides opportunity to develop their  creative self through music, art etc.
•    Drive that helps him look at the world with a curious eye and question things he thinks are not accordingly and make him want to be part of making a difference.
•    A full education which provides a good basis in the basics of reading, writing and making but also provides opportunity to develop their creative self, through music, art etc.
•    I want my child to feel confident secure and happy.
•    We want our child to be a happy, confident child that has a love for learning and exploring that challenges and questions what he is taught and knows himself what he enjoys.  We think he will get there by experiencing a very diverse curriculum with a big focus on the arts as well as STEM subjects.  We also want him to have lots of friends and to feel that he can be proud of.    We want him to resident and to try everything available and not be scared of failing.
•    An expectation that my child will leave as a confident happy child, more than prepared for his next education.  I hope that if he my child is an under achiever that he will be pushed and encouraged.  I hope that my child is a high achiever that he will be constantly engaged and challenged.
•    As our child gets older I’m not worried about her being the smartest in her class, I just want her to be comfortable in her classroom.  I want her to enjoy learning, want her to enjoy friendships.  I want her to discover tools to help with challenging academic and social experiences. I want her to value knowledge and stay curious, work with partners and groups so she learns how to be part of a team.  Most of all trust her instincts and understand that there may be many definitions of the word “smart”.  I expect her to go to school and do her best and to be able to ask for help when she needs it.
•    The most important thing is to know is that my child’s natural curiosity about the world he lives in is developed.  Celebrated – not crushed under the school or government expectations/standards.  Harnessing the joy – excitement that my child has is exploring, playing and learning together.  My expectation is that my child’s abilities will be recognised.  I expect that his teacher will take time to listen to my child.  Build a relationship of trust.  I wish that my child’s voice is heard and that confidence is nurtured.
