Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you all for a great start to the term. We’ve been very impressed with punctuality, attendance, how well the children have settled into their new year groups and how enthusiastic the children are about their learning. My office has had a constant flow of children coming to show me their work. One of the highlights of my day is walking around the school, popping into classrooms to see the quality of teaching, the high expectations in place and the children engaged. Welcome back and a very special welcome to all our new families, whether you are starting in Reception or in other year groups. It’s been a busy summer at Kingslea, we’ve refurbished the Y5 communal area, decorated the main corridors, cleaned up some of the outside areas, tarmacked the scooter parking area by the Infant gate (thank you to SGS Surfacing for doing that at no cost), installed barriers at the entrance / exit to the car park, deep cleaned the school and the teachers have been preparing classrooms and plans for the new school year. We are very excited to be back and looking forward to the new term. Read the full newsletter here Dear Parents/Carers,
This is the final newsletter of the academic year. And what a year it has been. I am immensely proud of the achievements of every child and every member of staff. The school continues to grow and develop in so many ways, through our curriculum, our academic achievements and our popularity in Horsham. Read the full newsletter here Dear Parents,
In the Autumn Term we are planning on enhancing our playground and sporting facilities by building a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area), funded through a KLASS donation, Welly Walk money and school fund. The MUGA will allow us to extend our junior playground giving your children a larger area to play in, and a purpose built ball game area, something that we don’t currently have. One of the many strengths of our school is the sense of community. Some of the most memorable events we have are when we get together: be it times when you come into school to share learning with your children, or KLASS organised events such as Firework Night or the Summer Fayre. We will hear from Mr Conway and Mrs Payne, and also from debut author,
Vashti Hardy whose wonderful book Brightstorm is reviewed in this issue. We will be taking a look at some of the brand new releases that will soon be filling the shelves in your favourite book stores. Read the full review here Dear Parents,
It’s been a lovely start to the term and it’s wonderful to get out onto the school field at break and lunchtimes. Amongst other things, Reception have been searching for, and identifying, insects in the copse. It was lovely to see Year 1 parents visiting the classrooms for the first of our fortnightly classroom visits. Year 2 have all written and published wonderful adventure stories. We hope you had a lovely Easter and welcome back. During the last week of term we handed out hundreds of certificates to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our pupils. Many children came home with Bronze or Silver House Point certificates. Read the full newsletter here Dear Parents,
Thank you to all of you who filled out the parental questionnaire at Parents’ Evening. As you can see from the table below the feedback was overwhelmingly positive and I feel this reflects the work that we do here at Kingslea and the relationship we have with you, as parents. A few weeks ago we held an evening for our junior girls and the significant male in their life. Over 60 dads, step-dads, granddads, uncles and brothers attended, and what an evening it was! There was a series of events around the school including coding, dodgeball, hair plaiting, conversation café, science experiments, financial advice and art for girls and their adult to enjoy.
