We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow after the summer break, and extend a very special welcome to all our new families, whether you are starting in Reception or in other year groups. On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, all staff were in school taking part in training and preparing for the new academic year.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to all our parents, and grandparents, who have visited us over the last few weeks. Grandparents’ Afternoon had such a lovely feel to it – a chance for children to show what they do at school and for grandparents to feel very proud of their grandchildren.

Dear Parents/Carers,
At Kingslea we want every child to be proud of attending our school. We want every child to have something about school that they feel proud of, inspired by and excited by. This could be something in the classroom, such as their achievement in solving science experiments or calculating challenging maths problems. It could be the joy they get from reading with a younger child in the morning. It may be being outside, exploring in our woods, training for cross-country, taking part in ’Lunchtime Karaoke’ on a Friday or being a Play or Little Leader.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to everyone who made a donation for the Welly Walk. It really is a lovely morning, with the whole school outside, walking the school grounds and chatting with friends. We’ve currently raised just over £3,500.

Dear Parents/Carers,
In September 2024 we introduced our Core 4 values: respect, perseverance, collaboration and creativity. Since then we have been embedding them into assemblies, lessons and every day life at Kingslea, as well as our very successful annual Core 4 Day. When we talk to the children about their learning, their friendships and our expectations, we try to use the language of the Core 4 values.

Dear Parents/Carers,
I would like to start off with a huge thank you for your support and making the school what it is. It was lovely to see so many of you at the grammar workshop and being so engaged, in the hall, in the classroom and in the playground. We think that is the most parents we have ever had to a workshop. Let’s hope that enthusiasm and sense of community is replicated in volunteers for KingsleaFest!

Dear Parents/Carers,
As we enter into 2026, I wanted to share with you my thoughts on where we are here at Kingslea currently and where we are with education in the country in general. As a school we really are in a great place, with a school and a staff team I am very, very proud of. There are over 50 people who work at Kingslea—be it as teachers, teaching assistants, in the Inclusion Team, in the office, as part of the site team and in other roles. Each person plays a role that adds value to your child’s education and wellbeing, day in, day out. My bottom line has always been, ‘Would I want my own children at Kingslea?’ My answer is a definite, ‘Yes’. You can clearly see why: high academic outcomes, staff stability, high levels of pupil wellbeing, varied and engaging curriculum, the number of clubs, the range of events our children take part in, the waiting list for places and perhaps my favourite, ‘the feel of the school.’ In short, we are in a good place. I see us as a combination of Singapore (high achieving and very well organised, but without the great food), Finland (the happiest country in the world, but without the snow) and Switzerland (who just seem to do things very successfully in their own way, but without their chocolate and finances)!
